Hermits Recipe

1 1/2 cups sugar

3 eggs

1 cup chopped walnuts or hickory nuts

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup butter

1 cup chopped raisins

1-3 cup sliced citron

1 teaspoon cloves

1/2 teaspoon soda



Dissolve soda in tablespoon hot water. Flour enough to make a stiff

batter, drop in small cakes with teaspoon and bake in slow oven.
